     Writing and its Various Contexts

My presentation focuses on the multiple functions of writing during the creative process. Its multiplicity is inferred through a contextualisation of writing activities. A closer look at the writing circumstances – what, when, how, for whom artists write – gives a quite differentiated picture of the function and purpose of writing activities. Additionally, when we talk of writing we should be aware that this activity is not limited to ordinary language, since there are other notation systems. Thus artists are involved in a cognitive pluralism, that is to say, they use diverse symbolic forms and notational procedures to achieve various purposes.
