     Theory in Aesthetics

The tradition of symbol theory clearly makes a distinction between the discursive function of language and the presentational function of art and artists’ practice. Yet in the discussion of artistic research, distinguishing an artist’s work from a discursive form will surely call resistance and asks for debate. In participating in the conference I hope to discuss these questions with fellow researchers and present a short talk about my research in symbol theory so as to initiate ideas on the ambiguous agency of words, how they obscure and enlighten and in which way this is inherent to the function and development of language itself.
