     The Interface is the Narrative

Sound has, since 2000, entered the media rich world of maps through the creation of soundmaps. The limitations of these platforms are hampering an experiential approach to listening that many soundmaps strive for, failing to capture the temporal and narrative characteristics of sound recordings. By theorizing soundmaps from the wider perspective of digital storytelling and interactive documentary the aim is to identify strategies for creating a more embedded and experiential approach to engaging with sound in everyday life.
